The Crucible 1813 is designed for melting and working with cullet. It reaches a maximum temperature of 2300°F to efficiently melt the cullet, then cools down to 1800°F for controlled glass squeezing.
For gathering, the kiln maintains a working range between 2050°F and 2100°F, allowing for optimal consistency.
Between sessions, the kiln holds at 1800°F until it's time to ramp back up to the gathering temperature. With its precise temperature control, the Crucible 1813 ensures efficient glassworking, from melting to shaping.
Includes solid-state relays for precise and reliable temperature control, a kiln shelf for convenient firing, kiln brick for insulation, and all the necessary components to get started right away.
NOTE: Electric Crucible Kilns are specifically designed for melting cullet and are not suitable for making glass from batch, as the caustic fumes produced can rapidly deteriorate the thermocouple and kiln brick. Coils typically last three to six months in crucible kilns and are not covered under warranty.
