Jen-Ken Ceram-a-Glass Kilns are dual-media kilns, built to fire both glass and ceramics and designed for artists who are passionate about a diverse range of fired arts!
The spacious CAG 2422 fits a 21” full round kiln shelf and square pieces up to 14.8” x 14.8” and is a great size for a home studio. Its 22” depth allows for easy loading and unloading. With a 42-amp draw, it has plenty of power to fire everything from low-fire ceramics to cone 8 (2,300°F). You also have the option to add lid lifters for easy opening and closing, as well as upgrade to 3” thick brick for 20% more insulation, saving energy and money while providing longevity for high-fire work.
Glass/Ceramic Switch: We've enhanced the functionality of these kilns by adding a convenient switch mechanism. Simply toggle the switch up to put the kiln in glass mode or toggle the switch down to put it in ceramic mode.
Glass Mode: In glass mode, with the switch toggled up, a uniform blast of heat from the lid coils evenly heats the glass on the kiln shelf, while the middle-side coils help the kiln reach optimal temperature. It's perfect for glass fusing, slumping, and annealing.
Ceramic Mode: Ceramic mode, with the switch toggled down, allows for precise side firing of ceramics and glazes up to cone 6. It’s also ideal for prolonged holds and extended annealing processes required for thicker glass projects like sinks and pot melts, or high-temperature glass techniques like screen melts, boiling glass, and glass casting.
Equipped with the renowned Orton AutoFire 4000 12-Button Controller with 25 blank user programs as standard, precise temperature control ensures optimal firing conditions for every project. With the option to upgrade to the AutoFire Slide or the TAP II Touchscreen Controller, you’ll gain even more features and ease of programming.
