A kiln floor or lid is an essential component of an electric kiln, providing both structural support and a surface on which ceramics, glass, or other materials are placed during firing. The kiln floor supports the items inside the kiln, while the lid covers the kiln, retaining heat and ensuring that the firing environment stays controlled.

For specialized techniques like vitrigraph glass working, the 9" x 9" square kiln floor can be drilled to create a vitrigraph kiln floor. However, once drilled, the floor is dedicated solely for vitrigraph use and cannot be used for other techniques.
