The kiln sitter claw is a small latch mechanism on the kiln sitter device that releases when a pyrometric cone bends, shutting off the kiln at the correct temperature.
This part holds the weight up at the front of the kiln and can be easily replaced unless corrosion has fused it to the sensing rod.
If removal is not possible, a new tube assembly and claw may be required. Installation typically takes about two minutes.
